R.I.P., the Notorious Miss Bettie Page

Hello you fabulous people...

If you haven't heard the sad news, Miss Bettie May Page passed away, Thursday, at the age of 85. I am sure we are all saddened by this news, as she has always been and always will be one of the sexiest American icons ever.

Her look and her sensuality captured so many people, male and female alike. I know I was captivated by the pin-up ladies from my grandparent's collection of memorabilia from back in the day. Miss Page is their queen.

In memoriam...since my store is named after her...I'm having a sale on my two sexiest items in the store. My Starlette gown, and my romper bathing suits, each at 100L and 50L respectively. The sale ends on Sunday and is only valid at my satellite store in Winchester.

Let's take a few minutes out of our busy day and have a moment of silence in honor of her!!

November Newness at *1800-Bettie's*

Hello all you lovely, gorgeous pixels...

I've gotten off my duff and actually have put something out for the winter season. I know, right, another sweater, but hey, we really can't have too many of them!!! Plus, paired with the new high-waist pants I've also put out, they look divine.

Classic in it's simplicity, these designs never go out of style, in the real world or in this pixelated one we live in. The high waisted trousers are reminiscent of the 1940's and show off one's feminine curves to their advantage. The vintage lace sweaters do the same with it's simple, yet elegant design. Dress them up or down, either way, you're going to look smashing!

See pics below. Oh!! And by the way, awesome news...I've moved my satellite store with my good friend, Elle74 Zaftig of Bellissima!. Please check my PICKS in profile in-world for the new location. Bigger AND better. Check out the other vendors there as well!!! :)

NEW Court Shoe - sculpted shoes in black

This is the first in a new line of shoes I'll be releasing over the coming month, starting with a classic black shoe. It is a simple pump design based directly on those of the 1940's with a relatively low, thick heel for that classic, subtle look.

Halter Neck Dresses...

Timeless Sexiness, that's what I call Halter Neck Dresses. They've been popular since the 1940's and are still popular today. Bare arms and a bare expanse of upper back, a knee length skirt...that look is demure and sex appeal rolled into one.

They have sculpty collars and come in a polka dot texture, this one comes in 5 different colors. Purchasable separately or as a fatpack. I've also included bangles and earrings in each set. There is matching hair to go along with it, called, The Rockabetty. The other dress is in plain black, with red accents, and comes with cherries, ribbons or chrysanthemums.

Check them out at the main store in Roosa and in my satellite store in Dungravan.

For the month of September only, the WHITE HALTER NECK dress is set to $L1. COME AND GET IT!

Peruse the pictures below at your liesure.

Hello Vintage Lovers!!!!

Yeah...so...I've been updating older stuff like mad. Fey has as well, go Fey!

Here are a few that I've finally finished...I think they've definitely come out better this second time 'round. My Photoshop skills have grown exponentially since joining Second Life. How great is that?

Please peruse pictures below. Hope you guys have a great day!

Re-sizable shoes now at Bettie's

I've started to include a scripted function in my shoes which will allow the shoes to be resized, this is in the form of a dialog menu which is summoned by clicking the shoe you want to adjust. After you've re-sized the shoe the scripts can be deleted, also by way of the dialog menu.

So far, I've updated the newest three shoes in the 'Sandal Pump' range, including the newly released 'Polka Dot' version as pictured below.

Also, I've updated two of the Oxford Pumps, but in order to allow the to be made smaller I've had to re-design the front section of the shoe, to achieve this I've used sculpted prims and new textures, and in my opinion they look far better as a result. I've also altered the overall shape of the shoe slightly to make it slightly more proportionate and appealing on the eye.

I can't say if or when I'll be updating the earlier shoes with this function, or updating any of them with sculpted parts/new textures, as I have very limited time online due to First Life obligations and wish to make new items too when I can find the opportunity. If you've purchased these shoes in their earlier form (meaning the above two pairs of Oxford pumps or others that may follow) you can get a free update if it was within one month of contacting me via notecard detailing the shoe you bought and the date you purchased it (I wouldn't suggest IM'ing me as they're almost always capped or lost).

New Victorian Ankle Boots with sculpted parts

Now I'm getting the hang of sculpties (thanks to the help of some rather clever people) I decided to make another version of my Ankle Boots. The new version has sculpted prims to form the basic shape of the shoe, and regular prims for the upper boot sections and details. I will leave the original non-sculpted boot in the shop as a very astute customer recently thanked me for still catering for regular prim shoes - her and others with low graphics settings had been disappointed with the way sculpties were being displayed by Second Life.

Moving on...

As many regular customers at Bettie's may have noticed, I've produced very little since me and Jac initially openined the store in the summer of 2005, where as Jac on the other hand has kept a steady creative flow going, much to her credit. Sales have declined in that time, even to the point of me considering throwing in the towel only recently, and so there will be a few changes at Bettie's in the near future if I'm to continue creating for SL...

Firstly, me and Jac are probably going to go our separate ways, purely for practical reasons - neither of us are online much, and usually at different times, and as such co-ordinating the shop together and maintaining financial responsibilities is difficult.

Secondly, we may be closing the main shop in Roosa and opting for cheaper shop locations hosted by others, in the process eliminating the risk of us losing plots and rental places due to unexpected time offline. I have already closed some shops recently, also, in light of the seeming lack of protection of content creator's artistic rights, I won't be parting with money to LL for mainland, so my store situation will be minimal at best for a while at least. At the end of the day this is a business, and I do hope to make a profit, but I won't support that which I disagree with in principle, whether it be because of poor treatment towards me or my friends, or bad business ethics.

However, I plan (or at least hope) to be more productive in the coming weeks, I'm hoping to do some more cross-over items to coincide with my new shop location at Bruin (see my SL profile for a link), this will draw some kind of line between the stores 'The Hat Shop' and 'Resurrection', between which my new (if temporary) store is located. Retro is still the name of the game, but palso stretching a little later than the original 30's-50's bracket, inluding some of my own 'RL' influences (as suggested by my 'Victorian Boots' also being sold at Resurrection - a popular 80's Goth fashion item), but also heading back to incorporate the 1920's at some point also. Again, these will be mostly shoes and prim items, possibly a couple of exceptions.
